Hotel du Levant in Paris

I am considering this hotel in Paris. Any opinions of recent stays? The current search on Fodors does not result in a lot of detail. Any help is greatly appreciated.

I have not stayed here but am considering staying here also. I'm a little familiar with the area around the hotel as we stayed on Blvd. St. Germain which is next to the hotel's location. The hotel itself is on rue de la Harpe which is a very busy street full with many restaurants and it's lively until late at night. We need a triple room so the hotel is offering to put us on a higher floor plus it has double-pane windows to keep out the noise.

We're not certain if we'll choose this hotel as its rates are increasing after February. In comparison we can get Hotel Left Bank for slightly a bit more and the area is in St. Germain.

Anyway, I think du Levant is still a good choice.

As for the Greek restaurants, they're generally tourist traps. There are many along rue St. Severin as well.

If you want to stay in the Latin Qtr. I recommend the Hotel Select on place de la Sorbonne. It's in a more quiet location and the hotel's rates are cheaper than the Levant's. The rooms are not luxurious but very modern as well as the baths. Another helpful thing is that breakfast is included in the rates also.

If the Hotel Select is cheaper than the Levant, I would definitely stay there, also. I hate that street the Levant is on, though, you'd have to pay me to stay there.

Hotel Select's double superior rate is 149 euro and I Hotel du Levant's twin is 144.83 euro. However, I would choose Hotel Select-it's in a more peaceful area plus the hotel just has more to offer than Levant's. Another good choice is Hotel Abbatial St. Germain; doubles are 132euro, twin 150 euro. We stayed there in a triple though (doubles are a bit small)-the triple room is not really spacious but the room has enough space to walk around which was comfortable for us 3. It has very small but modern bathrooms and a nice breakfast room with a good continental buffet breakfast for extra.

I stayed at the Hotel du Levant for two nights last week. It was great we really enjoyed. The loctaion was per fect just right in the centre of the Latin Quarter. The breakfast here was very good! We stayed in one of the cheaper room it was 106.00Euro per night. The room was small but very clean with every thing we needed. However, if you value space (we didn't mind because we had so much to see) I would recommend that you reserve one of the larger rooms which is more expensive.
