HOtel De Seine Paris NEVER AGAIN

We just returned from our anual trip to France and made the terrible mistake of being in Paris during the French Open. In february I made reservations at the Hotel De Seine, by fax , which they confirmed by fax. In this fax I made it very clear ( in the first paragraph ) that due to medical conditions we must have air conditioning. Our reservation was confirmed and upon arrival there was NO Air Conditioning. We were handed a fan by the desk clerk and told that in hteir opinion we would not need a/c during that time period and that is why they confirmed our 11 day reservation.
During the time we were their it was close to 90 degrees on certain days and we were in need of a/c other days my asthmatic companion needed the 6th district air filtered and needless to say with the noise off the rue du buci open windows at night proved for no sleep.
Due tot he French open we could get no other hotel room and were stuck in that Hell Hole until we could get into our hotel in Cannes. Which was the MAjestic and it was a wonderful hotel. Please anyone who may have read my posts stating that I had a room at the hotel seien with a/c and may have made reservations accordingly they do not have a/c.
Also they have no one to help you with your bags, no shower curtains, no mini bars all of which they will confirm to you that they have. The Hotel was also dark, filthy and most of the staff was rude. This hotel was 160 euros a night for a twin room and not worth the price for what we got.
Sorry about your unfortunate and lousy experience. I know that I've read that the Hotel des Marronniers (here on this site I think) overbooks their reservations and their desk help is rude to guests. I'm not sure if there is a coincidence but they are both owned by the same people. Both hotels are listed in charming hotel guides. I think one guide, "Charming Small Hotel Guides", has written down the Hotel des Marronniers.

What a nightmare!
This is one of those travel stories that I really hate to hear/read.you do all the things to make sure that everything will be suitable for you,and the people on the other end are dishonest/cheats.
Be sure to write to Conde Nast Travelers Ombudsman and give them your story, who knows, maybe you would at least get a refund or something.
Thanks for the tip regarding this cheesey hotel.

thanks sp I will do that with conde nast although i doubt this hotel cares one way or another. We are going to contest the sharge with our credit card company as I have all the papers they faxed us confirming our fax. It's worht a try. One thing I must say is that he Hotel Majestic In Cannes was everything and more and the staff was so gracious that they practically breath for you. They knew it was my Moms birthday and they sent her an Hermes Scarf , granted with the Hotel Logo but what a remembrance of her birthday in Cannes.

Sandra,

Thanks for sharing the tip, albeit at your own expense. I'm so sorry that you and your mother had such trouble, especially after doing all the right things. I do think you stand a chance with the credit card company, particularly with all the 'proof' you mentioned. Spread the word against this hotel!

On the upside, it sounds like the Majestic provided a totally above average stay. The story about the Hermes story is one of a kind and hopefully makes up for the former experience.

Good luck in your fight!

This is just another horror story about Paris Hotels, once they get you there you are stuck.
