If you do a search with Hotel Angleterre, you will find some info; there seems to be some confusion as to whether it is d'Angleterre or l'Angleterre.
In Paris in May I peeked in the lobby/courtyard; it looks lovely and has a wonderful reputation. All I know!

Yes, thanks. I did enquire at the hotel. I am not sure if we want to book there now. It's their cancellation policy-it's really steep. Plus they want one night's deposit as assurance and I don't mind but they want a personal check written-no credit card hold.

Don't most hotels want a nights deposit?
We stayed on year and had to change the dates and there was no problem at all.I always book way in advance. They don't cash the check, we pay with a credit card when we leave, they never use our checks.

Yes, I know and I don't have a problem with holding with a credit card. But I don't care to send a check-what if it gets lost in the mail? I checked about sending it by air and it'll cost me $28.

How long did it take for your check to reach them?

When was the last time that you lost a check in the mail?
We do it every year, more than once, believe me,there is no problem.
You can just email them and tell them you are sending the ck and they can email you the confirmation.
