Hotel Dauphine. Paris.

Hotel Dauphine, Rue Dauphine 6th. Location is just great.
Welcoming staff. Mocking me. I tease them to mock me.
Lift. there is a lift. I walked the 6 stairs. Need to lose some of my cognac. Stairs are ok.
Small room - you're in the 6th for God's sake !
nice furniture. Mohagony or oak or ... wood. correct, bordering on nice. Ceiling : Poutres apparentes.
Wooden ceiling. Nice (well I like it) painted gray to give an impression of modernity. Some curtains. No wallpaper but textile. Clean, nice.
Bathroom : a small bath + Shower - recently refurbished, clean, ok.
Small window - double glazing. An old mirro. So a good mixof modernity and a 'cachet' of old fashioned.
Bed confortable.

Match between Dauphine and Danube : y a pas photo (no need to check with pictures) : Dauphine is 3 categories above.
I could even come with my wife - c'est tout dire...

Caveat : I said small. Correct, but small. Quaint actually.
Ah, there is a tea machine.

Price : I paid 50% for Dauphine, but still paid 40% of the asked price. 350 € per night, I paid 154.
No breakfast in the price. I never eat breakfast in hotels.

Thank you! I hope these little hotel blogs of yours will help others like me who have been overwhelmed by Paris hotel choices. I also hope we would have chosen Dauphine over the Danube. We ended up reserving St Paul Rive Gauche. Will you be staying there any time soon?

You must be well over the 170 hotel stays you mentioned earlier by now.

Merci.

I am curious why you stay in a different hotel each time you go to Paris. Sense of adventure? I can see how it would be interesting to be in different places, different neighborhoods. But when you find a hotel you like, are you not tempted to keep going back?

Wo likes to gamble with hotels and prices, and always comes out ahead of the game. He enjoys staying in different neighborhoods, rather than staying in "the same old places".

He hasn't hit all of the hotels, because either the prices don't work for him or he isn't interested in the neighborhoods.

Probably because he comes so often for work, rather than being a traditional tourist, who usually prefer to stay in "their home base".

Exactly ! It breaks routine, and I hate routine...

I do come back to some hotels. But not regularly anymore.
I'll post my top five list one of these days !

Plus I don't often get a big discount several times in a row in the same hotel... I select the highest discounts from the sites;

St Paul rive gauche looks nice and has great reviews.
Probably more tourists than french eople go there ... 559 reviews in english on TA vs ... 27 in french. One of these places they'll be surprised to hear me speak french ;-)
