Hotel by Fiumicino

To be as close as possible to Fiumicino, would we better off at the Sheraton or the Hilton? We could stay on the Executive floor at the Hilton.

I assume by Fiumicino you mean the airport as opposed to the actual town. The Hilton is attached to the airport, can't get closer than that.

We are considering the Hilton because of its location, but the Sheraton is close enough for us. We probably wouldn't want to be further away than the Sheraton, though. We are looking for comfort, cleanliness, good food. The Sheraton has been recommended to us and we are wondering if it would be nicer than the Executive floor of the Hilton. Ideally, we would want a luxury hotel but that does not seem possible.

The Hilton fits my definitionof a "luxury" airport hotel. I only need to look at my bill for breakfast for 4 to remind myself of that...yes, the food is good, but it is darn pricey for a sanitized version of Italian cuisine.

I've never been to the Sheraton but I have stayed at the Hilton. It's a very large, very modern, sound proof hotel and the location can't be beat for convenience. They also have free shuttle service into and out of Rome which was a nice perk. Our breakfast was included and it was HUGE. Quite an amazing selection. Walking to the terminal to catch our morning flight was so nice.
