Hotel America in Barcelona
Anyone stayed at Hotel America in Barcelona? I think it's a fairly new hotel, so I haven't been able to find out much about it. I have seen the website, though, and it looks nice. I'd love to hear some feedback from anyone who has stayed there. Thanks!

My parents just stayed there last month. It is a small boutique hotel- opened last year. In the Eixample-an excellent location. They raved about the rooms- incredibly comfortable beds- and beautiful hardwood floors- also sleek ultra-modern bathroom. Since it is a pretty small hotel the service was very personalized. Sounded great to me, can't wait to visit.

Does sound nice. I have a res. at the Banys Oriental for 4 nights in Sept., but now I'm thinking about the America. It has more amenities, and the Eixample might be a nice location, though so is El Born, where the BO is. Anyone have a basis for comparing the 2? [I know the America is more costly, but that's not really a deciding factor.]

I'm topping this message about the Hotel America because, on paper, it sounds very, very nice, with much more amenities than the Banys Oriental; I'd like to know if anyone has actually stayed there. I'm also curious if anyone knows how noisy the neighborhood is and how well situated it is for walking access to good food and drink. I understand that the Banys is very well located for those purposes.

I have not stayed at the Hotel America, but walked past and took a peek into the lobby while in Barcelona in May. My impression is that there is probably more noise from traffic than there would be at the Banys (which is on a pedestrian street), but perhaps less from the immediately surrounding bars and restaurants.
There are plenty of good places to eat and drink in the Eixample, but walking distances tend to be somewhat greater than in the Borne area, due to the longer blocks there.
