Hofbrauhaus during Oktoberfest?

Does anyone know whether Hofbrauhaus (the restaurant) continues to operate during Oktoberfest? I know they have the Hofbraeu-Festzelt tent on the grounds, but does the restaurant in the city center stay open too? If so, does the restaurant get as crowded as the HB tent does? Thanks!

I was in Munich last year during Oktoberfest and the restaurant in the city was open. We stopped there for lunch to check it out before heading to the fairgrounds. It was pretty full, inside and out.

Wear an old tie; someone will offer to cut it off....let them. German humor you know. The food is decent, but drink a liter of beer first. All will be well.

Thanks Sherhatfield.

Oakglen...no idea what that means, but I'm female (and not Avril Lavigne), so I'll pass on the tie!

logos999, I'm not sure half of those words were German.

Yeah, chances to have your tie cut are slim .
