Hilton Garden Inn Krakow

Has anyone stayed here? Thoughts on location?

My husband & I are planning to do some sightseeing during the day and like to dine out/have drinks in the evenings. Trying to narrow down the best location. Old Town seems like a good area for sightseeing and Kazimierz for going out. How does the HGI Krakow work for our interests?

Thanks in advance.

Honestly, this board is better for planning than hotel reviews - tripadvisor will have a ton of reviews.

Based on its location and your parameters, I wouldn't stay there. It's not close to Rynek Glowny, which is the center of the city from a tourist standpoint.

No experience with the Hilton but a good one with Best Western Stary Rynek.

My brother usually stays at Hotel Floryan (NOT Florian)

There is sightseeing in both Old Town and Kazimierz, as well as places to go out at night.

The hotel is probably comfortable, but it's not a very convenient location by my terms, it's across the river, SE of the city right on a major highway. Would be good for getting to/from airport due to that, but how do you intend to go other places (sightseeing or going out?). It's too far for you to walk to Rynek Glowny from there at night, or Kasimierz, unless you are used to walking several km at night to get places. It's about 2.5 km from either.

I found it difficult to figure out the bus/tram situation in Krakow as there was no easy place to get a map of the lines or schedule, and I tried. I did finally figure out one line from my hotel to Kasimierz, but I have only stayed near Rynek Glowny, so just walked to everything else (eating, sightseeing). So do you know the bus/tram lines from that hotel that you think it will be convenient, or how do you intend to get around?

sorry, I meant SW of the city, if I have my directions right, but you've probably seen it on a map, anyway, so you know where it is

Thanks for your help! I keep looking for a place as I'm thinking the HGI Krakow is probably not well situated to what we like to do...walking around, seeing the sites, dining out and generally getting a feel for the neighborhoods and area.

Thanks again. I appreciate the help.

Then you should stay near Rynek Glowny. There are plenty of hotels there.
