Herodion or Philippos Which Would You Choose?
I know that these hotels are sister properties and that the Herodion is more expensive, but considering that Tripadvisor gives them both high ratings, which would you choose? I get the feeling that the rooms at the Herodion are bigger and nicer. Help! Thanks!

Both these hotels are within a block of the Acropolis Metro stop. It is probably about a 15 minute walk to the Acropolis.
We stayed at the Philippos two years ago when we were unable to get a room at the Attalos.
It was a nicely appointed hotel and guests there could access the rooftop area of the Herodion. Frankly I thought the rooms at Attalos were larger than Philippos but the hotel was much better appointed than Attalos.
I generally go for the less expensive hotel so I can spend my money on sightseeing and dining.

I stayed in both these hotels in July. I actually booked two stays at the Philippos, but when I arrived for the second stay, they "upgraded" me to the Herodion. Philippos is a standard 3 star hotel, Herodion a standard 4 star hotel. Rooms at Herodion were a little larger and better appointed (ie more soap, shampoo, and a hair dryer in the bathroom)as you'd expect. Breakfast at Philippos was standard continental buffet, at the Herodion it was an "American" buffet (included bacon, eggs, sausages etc). I'd recommend both these hotels but my preference would be for the Philippos. It was smaller and the staff were more friendly and helpful.

we just spent 3 nights at the Philoppos, to me the room was small and had 2 separate twin beds. when I asked for a queen sized bed, the room was even smaller and could not hold our luggage. Its clean and a great location to the Acropolis and the Plaka. there is also a shower, and after 10 days on the Islands which was a relief

So it goes...We were bumped from a flight earlier in the year so we ended up having a trip coupon from Expedia and used it to stay at the Golden Tulip Electra Palace. The place looks nice. Thanks for all the comments!
