Thanks for your input, Sarge65! I wish I could spend more time in Florence, but will make the best of it in 2 days. Venice is what I'm really looking forward to. Rome was not part of the equation; however, we are using air miles and it just worked out best this way for flights.

sandralist - I will take your advice and call AutoEurope. If we can't get a car on Sunday, then we will just take a taxi from the train station and get a car the next day.

We are using air miles ($79.00 total cost pp for taxes and insurance - yeah!!!) and staying in apartments; however, that still won't allow for private drivers. We are treating our son to this trip and want to have some money to enjoy shopping and eating.
