Help with the Left Bank Hotel thread

I can't seem to get to the Left Bank Hotel thread that I saw last month. Can someone provide the link?

Thanks!

Here you go:
http://www.fodors.com/forums/threads...p;tid=35162713

[In case you're wondering how I found it, I highlighted "France" in the topic box above, then hit "Search". The Left Bank Hotel thread came up within the first 50 threads.]

It's here among the first 50 threads. I just topped it a few days ago. For some reason I can't pull it up through the SEARCH section, so I have to top it regularly as not to lose it. Happy Travels!

Yk-I've highlighted, "France" and typed in the complete name in the SEARCH box many times and it has never come up. Every time I've had to scroll to find it and then top it. And sometimes it tops and sometimes it doesn't. I use my own computer, a Mac, and also work on two borrowed computers, PCs, and it doesn't work on any of them. Happy Travels!

Guenmai - In this situation, the KEY is to leave the search box EMPTY. Just simply highlight France and hit search. All the previous threads that were tagged with France will show up.

That's what I did in order to fine it, but before I topped it this last time, I had to scroll all the way to the 3rd set of 50 threads. Happy Travels!

Guenmai - you can just save the URL into your browser's favorites folder. That way, you don't have to keep searching for the thread each time you want to top it for someone else.

Alternatively, you can start a Word document with the url's of threads you want to keep. That's what I do, so I can easily find them or put them in posts rather than topping threads every time I point them out to someone.

To get the url, you open the thread, right click on the title of the thread in the right column, and copy it.

Of course this will probably all change next week when the new format is introduced.

Thanks a lot for the tips. I'm not high tech. I just got a computer during the summer and haven't figured it all out yet. I've been on borrowed PCs for years.

Plus, unfortunately, I can't find time to go to a computer class to learn how to work the Mac, due to working and caring for very elderly parents. So, I've kind of composed a "Fodorite" computer steps-journal with all of the Fodorite computer tips along with calling up friends to help. Smiles. Happy Travels!

I thought I could find it with a search, as I know the best way to do that, but it still didn't work. Apparently the FOdors search function isn't working very well at all, although I don't understand why. It used to work better than it does now.

Basically, it isn't a good idea to search with a long list of words, so the entire title wouldn't work. However, I tried with just a single key word (which is the best thing to do, if one exists), which was "thread" and it still doesn't pop up. I also tried a couple other words I know are in it, like "clement" and it still doesn't show in a search.

But other posts with the word clement in it show up, so I don't understand what's going on. But it appears to be impossible to retrieve with a search on a word or a two-word phrase in quotes.

I don't know what is wrong with Fodors search engine. It doesn't work in any predictable manner, and it used to actually be better than now.
