Help with hotels in Rome for a family.

We're a family of 4 with 2 teenage sons, I've narrowed it down to the following hotels. Can anyone help or comment?

We are going in August, don't mind walking, and are only there for 2 nights.

Capo D' Africa - 2 rooms 270 Euro both rooms
Hotel Trevi - 2 rooms or a family suite 268 or 209 (one room)
Albergo Santa Chiara - quad suite 240
Hotel Aventino - 2 rooms 200 both rooms
Hotel Santa Maria - family suite 270
Hotel Campo di Fiori - 2 rooms 268 both rooms
Albergo Cesari - 2 rooms 240 both rooms

I've stayed at the Hotel Campo dei Fiori and the Cesari, checked out the Aventino and heard good things about the Santa Chiara and the Santa Maria. The Aventino and the Santa Maria are both a little out of concentrated sightseeing central. With only 2 nights (why?) the more central the better. Although I thought the Aventino would be quiet.

The Cesari is on a pedestrian street, and midway between the Pantheon and the Trevi Fountain. And we had a really nice room there. So maybe I'd opt for that. Although the dei Fiori had a rooftop terrace with great views around the city.

We stayed twice at Albergo Santa Chiara and will definitely stay there again. A nice hotel with a terrific breakfast in a great location.

Can't comment on any of the hotels - but assuming the locations are both good I would definitely go with 2 rooms in order to get a second bath - and make leaving the room in the morning a lot faster,

Good point NY...I'm leaning towards 2 rooms anyway.

I like the Hotel Aventino and the low price would make taking a cab feasable...

We only have 2 nights in Rome because we're only in Italy for 8 days and we've been to Rome a few times...I used FF miles and was able to get 4 round trip non-stops in August, and I just booked, so I'm thrilled..we have to be back before school starts.

The other days will be spent near Bolgheri on the coast and in the Montepulciano/Pienza area. My husband's a big oenophile and working in NYC, he'd rather get out of the city, even Rome.

Anyway, the other

Two rooms at the Cesari at that price is a no brainer--are you sure of price?

when we were in Rome 2 years ago with a 16 year old, he really enjoyed being within easy walking distance of the Piazza Navona/Piazza della Rotunda area. Although there are a lot of teens hanging out at Campo de' Fiori that didn't appeal to him as much

Positive Bob, you can go right to their website and book it online, or email them like I did, it's 120 euro/room.

It's low season, August. The rooms at Capo d'Africa are only 136 euro a night...which is much less than what the guides would suggest.

But if you say it's a no brainer, I guess I should book it?

I have to say, the prices are lower at all the hotels than when we were in Rome in May 5 years ago.
