Help with Glasgow Airport>Edinburgh City Centre transport recommendations, please.
Hello,
I'm flying into Glasgow on a Monday morning and would greatly appreciate recommendations on transportation from the airport terminal to the city centre of Edinburgh.
I have heard there's a coach service that departs from the Glasgow airport terminal that goes directly to the Edinburgh city centre, but I haven't been able to find that information.
Any information/recommendations would be most welcome.
In addition to the coach, the best option (although not the cheapest, it might be the most efficient) may be a taxi to Queen Street and then the train to Waverley Station.
Thanks so much!
Tim

That gives info on Taxi, Train, & Bus.
Don't understand why you would go to Queen Street & then train to Waverly. Waverly is the main train station in Edinburgh & train/bus from airport go directly there.
We did the opposite in May; Edinburgh hotel to Airport. Used taxi and it was under @15 pounds.

The required info was about getting from Glasgow airport to Edinburgh. But the BAA site for Glasgow Airport shows a bus to Edinburgh city centre from bus stops 1 or 2 immediately outside the terminal building (which isn't that big):

MHS: I think you misunderstood BritishMusicFan. he wants to travel from Glasgow airport to Edinburgh. Your answer sounds like you are talking about Edinburgh airport. You would be taling about a LOT more than £15.
BritishMusicFan: I would just take the coach - two less struggles w/ luggage - just get on the coach at Glasgow and get of in the center of Edinburgh. The train is faster - but probably not when you tack on travel into Glasgow and waiting for the train.

I don't think that the coach runs direct from Glasgow Airport to Edinburgh any more - it didn't the last time I looked into it a few weeks ago. There is a shuttle bus which will take you to the Buchanan Bus Station, and from there you can either get a Citylink coach to Edinburgh or walk to Queen St station and get the train (about 5 mins away.) The bus takes about 15 minutes more and costs half the price so that would be my choice.

Thanks so much for the excellent information.
I searched the CityLink website and didn't see anything about a direct coach from Glasgow Airport anymore, so it appears that this service has been suspended.
It does cost a bit more, but it is sounding like the best option would be to take a taxi to Queen Street Station (the BAA website estimates about £15 for a taxi) and then take the train to Waverley.
By the time I clear customs and get to the city centre, it'll be past 10 a.m., so it shouldn't be terribly busy.
Thanks for all of the great information. Any other suggestions are most welcome.
