jhp, based on many recommendations here, I have signed up for Context Rome's "Antica Roma" tour for my trip in November.

We took Context Rome's Antica Roma tour in June and enjoyed it very much. At the beginning my husband said he could not last four hours but he happily stayed with it even when the tour lasted an additional thirty minutes.

Hi

We used Discover Rome when we went to Rome in 2005. I have posted more details in my trip report with pictures and links on my homepage http://gardkarlsen.com/rome_italy.htm Maybe you can find some useful information there.

Regards

another vote for Context - the Antica Roma tour was one of the highlights of my trip. Very small group size, so you actually converse with your guide, rather than getting a canned tour.

We used COntext Rome for the Antica ROma and truly enjoyed the tour. We had a knowledgeable tour guide - our group was small (the four of us)during summer. Our tour guide was an American architecture student - excellent value. Good luck, Mary

Icon Tours are very good as well.

If you search here using the words Rome Tours or similar you will find many recommendations for them, as well as for the other companies mentioned.

To be honest, I opted for Icon because they were cheaper, but I was not disappointed with them - our guide Sarah was terrific.

I was very pleased with Angel Tours. The tour guides meet at about noon in front of the obelisk at the Vatican. I don't believe you need a reservation.
