Help on South of France
Hi to all:
My sife and I found great help from Fodorites
for a safari in 2006. So i'm asking for help
on the south of France. It's an important
birthday and I want to make her happy.
We will spend time in Paris either at the
start or end as we love Paris. I have not
been to the south and need help. She loves
Provence and I'm not sure what areas are best
- keys are romatic - historic - small villages are ok - food & drink - wonderful
B&B's or small hotels - If there are any
ladies who can help a want to be romatic
I'm your man and need your help.
With love,romance,food,wine,flowers & very
nice accomodations in mind.
Thanks to all who are kind enough to respond.

Moi aussi, j'aime Paris! I've spent a lot of time both in Paris and in Provence and have tons of ideas. There's an absolutely wonderful B&B in Aix-en-Provence where I've stayed before. Here's the website for it: http://www.sousletilleul.com/en/
Feel free to email me for ideas and feedback for places to stay in Paris and other possible destinations in Provence.

The time of year is really really important for this question and affects availability and rates dramatically. Also, how long do you plan for this trip and do you have any upper limit to your budget for a hotel room? You can spend a lot at some of those deluxe properties in Provence, if you are willing (eg, La Mirande in Avignon or some of the Relais & Chateaux places which could be nice).

My top two that I consider romantic:
LE PRIEURÉ in Villeneuve Lez Avignon. This beautiful hotel is situated in the heart of the village that lies on the other side of the River from Avignon. The Priory building with its antique furniture is my choice rather than the Atrium, the newer building besides the pool. Fresh flowers are in all the rooms, The herb garden is a delightful spot to have your digestiv. I saw my first hedgehog there.
The web site doesn't do it justice.

HOSTELLERIE DE CRILLON LE BRAVE takes up most of this tiny village overlooking Mont Ventoux, with it's several buildings. Built on several terraces, the pool on one, main dining on another, a bistro on yet another. The view is awesome gazing across farms, vineyards.
