Comfort should be your uptmost concern. If you can find an attractive looking pair of shoes with a decent 1" heel that you can still walk around in ALL DAY, then get it. I find Eddie Bauer loafers look classy and are very comfortable. Forget trying to look so chic, you can still manage it without hobbling around on 2 or 3 inch heels. I took boots to Italy and only wore them twice - they were a waste of weight and space in my suitcase that I could have used for something else!

I just realized that my thread has popped up to the surface again. I've had fun reading all your responses; from those who must like to dress in a similar fashion to myself to those who think we're nuts to like heels or to worry so much about how we look. Actually, as I tell my husband, "I'm not worried...that's not the right word, I just personally feel that I know how I want to look here and when I travel and I'm not asking everyone else to feel the same." But thanks to all of you; sometimes the brands you suggest (like LLBean) are not readily available here in Canada but I appreciate the ideas. And now on to finding a hair iron that works only on 220 voltage(www.Darty.comlooks promising). To those who now really think I'm obsessed...I don't take that long to get ready; I'm just particular.
