Robespierre, you're a regular here, so I'm sure you've seen it happen. Super-long links push the text columns out past where they should be, making it so the text runs off the right of the screen and you have to scroll over to see it all. It's very annoying. But it has to be a really long link and, looking back, mine wouldn't have done it. Best of luck as you endeavor to break it!

Yes, the long-link problem has cost Fodorites millions of person-hours of lost productivity. Everyone who reads a thread that has been trashed has to waste time scrolling back and forth. To preclude it happening, posters are forced to submit the link to tinyurl.com and paste the result back in their post.
I have proposed a solution to Fodor's, but they don't seem to be willing to invest the ten minutes required to implement it and solve the problem once and for all. Here's the HTML:
