I will be visiting London and Paris next week but still searching for suitable budget accommodations. Any recommendations for hotels in London and Paris?

Budget:
- around 40GBP/single room/night in London (better with elevator and kettle, guess no air-con is ok?)
- around 80EUR/single room/night in Paris (better with elevator, kettle and seems air-con is needed as it's hotter in Paris?)

umm...If you are going next week, I would be booking....a long time ago. I think you may have missed the boat on this one. Going to Europe with no hotels, in the summer period...yikes.

IMHO...At this point, I would take anything that is available, and if it matches your budget great. Try some of the hotel booking agencies TODAY...recommendations here will mean little with this short of timeframe.

have a quick look at expedia, for example. But beleive me, things will be dicey at this late stage

London - probably Priceline. You might be able to meet your budget if you bid for a 2* or 3* hotel, but probably not in a central zone. Also check out www.hostelworld.com and www.travelstay.com - both might be renting out student accommodation or cheap rooms.

Paris - You will have many options, but picking the best one is the trick. Try these:

Well, assuming you won't be spending time at the hotel spa and rooftop patio , the Paris one is OK, you won't be touring much around your hotel, but you are near easy walk to RER and metro stops to get you into the touring areas.

Don't expect a kettle in your room in Paris...

The London one is just fine. It could not be in a more convenient location for a budget accomodation. Victoria Station is a hub for the tube, buses, night buses, trains, long distance coaches and taxis. So you can get anywhere easy at any time of day. Plus it is walking distance to the river, Tate Britain, Buckingham Palace, etc.

The Paris one would not be my first choice - but isn't terrible at all. It is a bit farther from sites - but the station is a hub for all the different transport options in Paris.

Either way, have a wonderful time.

I just need some guidance as it's my first time travel alone and indeed worry a bit.

The kettle stuff: hm....originally wanna get easy access to hot drinking water for noodles...maybe I'm being too positive.

yes yes. I need recommendations for where to eat - with limited budget...
and will have a lot more questions, though very basic, when I have more thoughts on the itinerary.
