Help! Fiumicino hotel canceled last minute.

I just received an email that the hotel I booked back in April has canceled my reservation for next week. We are currently on the road in Italy. The plan was to return the car at the airport on Oct 16, spend a day at Ostia Antica, and fly out of FCO early on the 18th. Now we have to find a hotel last minute and may have to throw out Ostia. Any suggestions for around $200 a night?

You can try Hilton Garden Inn at the airport. I don’t know the prices.

Thanks but we are trying to avoid a typical airport hotel experience. We stayed at the Rome Airport Hilton years ago and it was as if we were already back in the US. We’d like to find a place with a little more local flavor.

You could try asking your original hotel for any nearby suggestions.

I agree to enter your dates in to Booking.com. At this very late date most and hidden gems other Fodorites might recommend are very likely booked up. Booking would at least show you current availability.

The problem is the car. Also how early is the flight out?

No reason to stay out there unless it's a really early flight.

Thanks for the replies. Was waiting on response from original hotel but heard nothing. I’ll try booking.com. Yes Nick it’s a 6:15 am flight so we prefer Fiumicino.

We always stay at Hotel Seccy..walk to the river, restaurants....they now call themselves a boutique art hotel and museum but trust me, it's a plain hotel with very nice service. The cheaper rooms are small.

NO to the no-man's land between the town and the airport.
