I am glad the accommodation issue has been resolved. What are you planning to do in Frankfurt? Enjoy!

I would move over to a small town like Mainz... (not sure why you would stay in FF for 3 more nights).... Assuming you no longer have a car and Frandfurt is your departure city.

From this post: http://www.fodors.com/community/euro...-frankfurt.cfm
You choose this apartment: http://www.appartementhaus-mendelssohn.de
I would assume you are in Two-room apartment: http://www.appartementhaus-mendelsso...ts1/index.html
Whilst the website says "The bedrooms, which are separate from the living area" and that is confusing the layout plan PDF clearly shows only one bedroom. and the prices are clearly shown here:
http://www.appartementhaus-mendelsso...ces/index.html
Sorry to say I cannot see how the website missed sold the accommodation.

There is a lot to do with kids in Frankfurt.

There is a great childrens festival down at the Alte Oper, stretched out through the park that completely surrounds the inner city. A pirate ship to ride along the Main. The Palmengarten is great, with some fun water play. There is the Zoo, or the Senckenburg Museum & the Communication museum which are interactive. Go to the Lego Store in MyZeil, or the play area upstairs, or the Imaginarium. You missed the fireworks last night at the Main, as well as the Main Fest. Again, if you would have mentioned your dates for Frankfurt, I would have given you lots of suggestions.

They are spending an entire day going to Luxumbourg and back (not a day trip really) as well as a day in Offenburg, so they really don't have much time in Frankfurt at all.

That's good news. You can relax and enjoy the last few days of your hol now. And the night in the attic oven is obviously all part of the adventure, to be embellished when you get back home

Claire, I think most of us have made some travel mistakes. After a while you have to figure they are all part of the adventure and just try to learn how not to repeat them next time.

Enjoy your days in Frankfurt!

The listing says "bedrooms" and "bathrooms" since it is talking about more than one apartment. It says clearly 2 rooms per apartment - bedroom and LR - never says or implies 2 bedrooms.

Glad it worked out - and a good learning experience.

Don't believe what she says about the price. The website states € 1.340 per month for the two room apartment, that is no way € 255 per night.

You were really lucky to find a family room with all the amenities, at less than 200/night. Whew.

I am glad for you that this is your definition of a "disaster." What will you do when something that is actually terrible happens to you? What a drama queen.

Perhaps claire meant $255 not €255 Since the prorated nightly rate is much closer to the former than the latter

Claire thinks and writes on the fly, so who knows what the original price is/was. If St. Cirq is still reading, brava on the deleted comment, I can truly understand the frustration level, and since half of your post was complimentary, I do not agree with the hasty deletion. Moderation is not always evenhanded. And I write this fully expecting it to be pulled too.

Claire certainly has a unique travel style. Many of you following her on the actual trip were either not around or had nothing to say during the multi-thread, multi-month planning phase. If I had not been there, my admiration might be higher.

But enough. Safe travels home in just a few short days. Glad your lodging situation in Frankfurt, certainly in no way desparate, was resolved.
Enjoy the rest of your stay in Frankfurt.

No I seriously mean 255euro per night!

Luxembourg and Offenburg are for family and friend reasons.

The days are planned out!

Love the idea of going on the pirate boat though maybe before we fly out! Ill look into that

And yes ... I am a proud drama queen ... Makes the discussions more interesting!

Best thing I ever did was get free acore rewards card ... They always come through and seem so family friendly. When I turned up at 7:30am a family did a no show the day before so the room was available straight away. Very lucky I know! And free Internet for all devices! We 6in total

Her kids are 4 and 2, a bit young for travel lesson learning, hopefully the 4 year old will have a stab at remembering the trip.

>>>15 Euro for internet sounds about right too. "Free" internet is hard to come by, even in hotels.<<< WHATTTTT! Wrong!

Not a chance-- these days free Wi-Fi is more common than free towels. I just returned from a trip to Eastern Europe where I stayed in several hotels, most of them in small towns. ALL OF THEM HAD FREE WI-FI. Huge Flag if I ever come across a hotel that charges for Wi-FI--- PASSSSSS!

I have lived in Germany for 4 years and it has been my experience that free internet is rare thing here. In other European countries? Sure. But not in Germany.
