I saw on another thread that you were in NJ. This east coast travel agent site I was looking at yesterday listed Sicily for $488 from Boston or NY, but that's after Oct 15th. You might try calling them to see what it is currently.
Good luck with the family.

May I suggest a more descriptive title for your next post? Every single person posting a question here is seeking "help"....
Type "consolidator" in the text box at the top of this page to pull up many threads which have possibilities for cheap tickets.

I sent you an e-mail DolciBionda with the travel agency I use in NYC that always has good consolidator rates. Another option is to check all the airline's websites that fly to Sicily, you may be able to find some kind of special. July & August are tough months to find good airfare in my opinion, unless you are going to a major city like Rome, London, etc. The only other thing that you could do is find a low rate to Rome, and then fly one of the budget carriers from Rome to Catania. You would have to book these separately of course, and if you happened to have a problem with your flight to Rome and missed the second flight, it could become confusing. Search posts for Sicily, there are ones that mention these small, budget carriers that fly from Rome to Sicily.

Check out WWW.aeroportodicatania.it for a list of flights from Catania. You will see lots of European destinations where you will be able to arrange a connecting flight to the US.

www.aeroporto.catania.it/
This is the correct URL (double-cehcked it by typing "catania airport" into ggogle.com), but it appears to be down at the moment.
Here's a different site found on the same search that is functional:
http://www.cormorano.net/aeroporto.catania/

From a few of your prior posts, I gather that you are an 18 year-old American girl who has been to Italy before on a class trip.
http://www.fodors.com/forums/threads...p;tid=34418733
While there, you met an Italian boy/man from Sicily, whom you called the "love of my life", even though you'd lost touch.

As someone about twice your age who still fondly (and vividly) remembers her first love, if this guy is your "family emergency", please proceed with caution! Forgive me if I'm mistaken....
