Heathrow to Gatwick

Hi,
I am able to get a great fare on a trip to Vienna but have to arrive at Heathrow and depart from Gatwick. There's a 6 hour gap between flights. Is this possible? Is it worth the trouble?

Thanks so much!

Yes, buses go constantly between the two and though can get mired in traffic shouldn't take more than a few hours at worst.

Yes, it's possible. The old rule of thumb was to allow a minimum of five hours between scheduled arrival at one London airport and scheduled departure from another (and four hours was often enough for Heathrow-Gatwick). With today's increased security issues, it's wise to increase that transfer time by another hour at least.

You can take a National Express coach (www.nationalexpress.com) directly from Heathrow to Gatwick for 19 GBP. Be aware that heavy traffic can easily double the scheduled driving time.

Depending on how many are in your party, it might be less expensive to hire a car service such as www.justairports.com.
