I agree, goddess, with both of your posts.

The driver is under no obligation to go out of his way to return items left in his taxi. I think it's up to the passenger to retrieve it.

If the driver is willing to return it for a fee ( to cover his own loss of a fare), I don't think anyone has a right to complain about that.

And drivers should be given the benefit of the doubt as to whether or not it's an inconvenience to return to the site where the passenger is.
