has anyone stayed at hotel california in positano?

I am travelling to Positano in late September and I can book at Hotel California which i think is next door to Villa Rosa in Positano( which is full). Has anyone any experiences here?

I guess it would have a similar view to Villa Rosa. I am also investigating casa cosenza and villa la tartanna. Any feedback would be helpful.

Haven't stayed at the Hotel California but did stay at the Beverly Hills Hotel in Rome about 3 years ago. And next month I am staying at the Montana Hotel in London. Isn't this all a hoot?

Kiwigal: We stayed at the Hotel California last July and loved it. Be sure to ask for a room on the front with the small balconies. The views are spectacular; Maria could not have been more helpful; the room was large and lovely. We ate dinner at the Sirenuese across the street from the California, and the view was no better than from our little balcony. The Villa Rosa is next door, but the Hotel California does not have all of those killer steps!

Kiwigal: Just in case you missed it, look here for a good description:
http://www.charmingsmallhotels.co.uk/Units/417.HTML
For some reason, the hotel's website is not working. They are closed through March, so maybe they take it off the web for the winter months and it just is not back on.

I received an email today that the Hotel California has a room available for our 3 night stay in June. Did you stay at this hotel last September and what did you think about it? Should I make the reservation?

We stayed at California in June 2001. We were very pleased with the accomodations, large modern rooms. Ask for a room on an upper floor with balcony. If you have a car they also have their own indoor car park.

Marty. Question about your comment on the steps at Villa Rosa. If it is next door to the Hotel California, is the access not the same or are you referring to steps within the hotel itself? Can you clarify.
Thanks
