Back in high school, all our modern foreign language textbooks (Spanish, French, or German) were from the same publisher and had basically the same dialogues. So, while I was learning "Le pick-up ne marche pas" my best friend learned St. Cirq's sentence. Alas, with the near-death of the phonograph, neither is useful.

True, KT, but my "questa cotoletta col contorno di broccoli e squisita!" has actually come in handy on occasion.

Actually, I remember "Le pick-up ne marche pas" coming in useful when a street vendor in Paris was telling me that some food-making machine or another wasn't working.

My brother took Spanish in high school, a few years after I did. Same book as mine, but in lesson one there is a phrase, "Tu eres Belita, verdad?" which mean "you are Belita, correct?" He always thought "verdad" was her last name. So capitalization would have counted in this case!!!!
