Guess what folks? Two of the men who were arrested in London were converts to Islam who had adopted Islamic names. BUT racially, they are just as Anglo-Saxon as I am and indistinguishable from me if we both wore business suits. John Walker Lindh", the "American Taliban" arrested in Afghanistan, was a rich white kid from California, Jose Padilla, the would-be "dirty bomber" from Chicago was Hispanic, and I think Richard Reid was West Indian.

Any screening program based on what people look like is doomed, entirely apart from racism, to miss the most potentially dangerous terrorists, the ones who don't look like the stereotypes.

But there are other kinds of profiling that do work.
