Greece: Any word on potential strike July 14th?

Has anyone got information on this rumored strike? I've been searching online, but don't trust some of the sources. The reason I ask is that my husband is due to fly home to NYC from Athens that day, and I wondered if he should be making alternative arrangements.

Thanks for your help!

So far, nothing scheduled for the 14th. I check these 2 websites for information.

A general strike is called for the 15th, no idea of participation yet.
A couple of news sites have said that the Air Traffic Control are striking on the 14th, but there is still NO announcement on their own union site, also someone reported on TA that they have asked someone working in the office next door to the ATC at Athens airport & they haven't heard anything either.
If an announcement appears on their site I will post the info.
This is the ATC Union site, in Greek only, the English version doesn't show announcements or press releases unfortunately,

IF he could switch his flight until Friday he would be safe... the Greeks never strike on Fridays; why? because it would not just inconvenience tourists, it might interfere with their own weekend plans. Cynical? Perhaps, but confirmed by people I know in Greece.

Thanks, travelerjan! He's hoping to get home mid-week, but what can you do?? BTW, our Greek friends say the same thing, so I don't think you're being cynical at all. Most of the people/friends we know are resigned to these strikes, but not in favor of them at all.

The discussed ATC strike for the 14th is called off!
They will be joiing the general strike on the 15th instead for 4 hrs only. At the moment there are 2 different reports as to the times, either 10am-2pm or 11am-3pm.

Is this on the Greek mainland only or does it apply to the islands as well?

My son is due to fly to Rhodes on Thursday 15th.

If air traffic controllers join the strike it will affect ALL flights, both international and domestic, in and out of Athens.

Oh yay!!! Thank you for letting me know, Yiassas! Great news for me and my husband, who loves Greece, but just wants to get home at this point.
