While you're at it, congratulate the most valuable member of the Spanish team, referee Howard Webb who called an atrocioujslyh biased game against Holland (which seems to be the consensus of all those who covered the game).

Just wish I'd been in some Spanish town with lots of tapas bars when the game was over or when the winning goal was made. We were in Logrono the night Spain played one of their games (I must admit I don't follow too closely so I don't know who they played that night) and when they kicked a goal every bar on the street erupted with wild cheers. It was great fun.

Two years ago we were in Madrid during another World Cup or similar--and Spain (probably Barcelona) won. They stayed up all night partying. There were gigantic screens in the parks for folks to sit and watch the game.

These people really take this game seriously. I mostly enjoy watching them get so excited.

The Dutch players were nasty. I'm glad they lost. Thrilled to see Spain take the Cup!

Yay Spain! Would love to have been there to clebrate with them. There was a soccer match between Madrid and Barcelona when we were there inthe Spring and it was crazy for that...can only imagine the celebrating now.

Well done Spain - they definitely deserved to win!

And at least they were playing football, unlike the Dutch who showed little sportsmanship.

Although I definitely thought the Netherlands would take it - I heartily congratulate Spain for out playng them and not falling fowl to dirty tactics. Personally I had the feeling the Ref was out of his depth in controlling the Netherlands team and had no other method of action but to issue a staggering amount of yellow cards. Pity the last game ended like this but I was so relieved it did not go to a Penalty Shoot out - totally ridiculous way to decide a game!

It was probably the European Cup.

If Barcelona had won something, Madrid wouldn't party

Congratulations to Spain! I was in Barcelona during the semi-final match with Germany and it was pretty exciting. I am sorry I missed the final (I was en route back home to the US). It would have been fun to see the celebrations.
