Great New Book on Italy

Want to share a new book I've discovered entitled "Pizzas and Piazzas" that is a humorous travelogue throughout many parts of Italy. Terrific fun, and as we used to say in 5th grade book reports, "Highly recommend it to anyone interested in the subject."

Have to agree with Steve. Read it, laughed, ordered a couple copies for friends. Look for it online-- my local store didn't have a copy but would order it "within the week." No wonder I buy so many books online.

In view of the current "euros vs euro" spat, I guess the author should have titled the book, Pizze e Piazze.<BR><BR>I'll be looking for it.<BR><BR>Best wishes,<BR><BR>Rex<BR>

In the "It's A Small World" department, I searched for this book on Amazon (it's there). Found that the author is, Jan Kubick (if I remember correctly, both husband and wife are named Jan). When I was planning my very first Italy trip in 1998, I read their delightful travelogue on the web and then corresponded with him by e-mail. Here's the website: http://athena.prs.k12.nj.us/users/jwoods/home.html<BR><BR>Guess he's (they've?) turned their travel experiences into a book.<BR><BR>Enjoy!

Bravo, Betsy. Good detective work. The name struck a bell, and I remembered the site but couldn't find it last night. I remembered the site because he had a good sense of humor.

Thanks, SC. Laughed out loud when I saw the author's name at Amazon. Their web page was the first one I saved as a neophyte trip planner. I really enjoyed their obvious love of Italy, especially the food. <BR><BR>Jan and Jan, if you're lurking here, let us know!

I also very much enjoyed <BR>"Sprezzatura: 50 Ways Italian Genius Shaped the World" by d'Epirio.<BR>Short, informative, slightly irreverent essays on notables from the first century to the 20th.<BR>

Ordered Piazzas and Pizzas on line yesterday. Based on the comments here, look forward to reading it. Also bookmarked the authors' web site (thanks for the info). <BR><BR>j
