Thanks for the great book for Italy

I haven't been on the forum for awhile and didn't write a thing about our most recent trip to Italy. Of course I have a lot to thank everyone for, but most of all I want to tell everyone how much I enjoyed the book Miss Garnet's Angel, set in Venice.

We used the book to seek out various locations mentioned there, and got to see some parts of Venice that we would not have experienced. Finding the "Camel" house was especially fun.

I highly recommend Miss Garnet's Angel for anyone looking for a very good book, insightful and poignant, but never corny or sentimental. And if you are going to Venice, it is a must read.

I had my library copy with me, but there was a copy in our Tuscan villa rental. We were in Tuscany before Venice, but I'm hoping the person who left the book behind them had been to Venice first.

Thanks to any and all that recommended this.

I really enjoyed Miss Garnet's Angel, too. Believe it or not, after a total of nine days in Venice thus far, Raphael's angel is one of the few things that I have yet to make it to see. Guess I just have to go back...again.

Oh, yes, Statia. An excellent reason to go back. I am glad I posted about the book.

Just as some people are picky eaters, I am a really picky reader. I studied and taught literature, writing and theater, and I am damn persnickety about books. If the dialogue is trite, or there is any sentimentaility, or any other of my pet peeves, I am usually furious with the person who told me to read the book. But Miss Garnet's Angel was so good that I had to post a thank you to the forum.

I never, and I do mean never, would have picked up a book with such a title on my own. Too corny sounding for persnickety me. Glad I was a tad open minded this time.
