We'll probably go down sometime next week. It will be a little too crowded this week-end. We had some heavy rain and wind today (remainders of Alex that had drifted across the Atlantic). Hopefully there won't be any more downpours that could affect the display

Went to see it early this evening. Beautiful, although the design on the ground doesn't match up with the drawing in the booklet. VERY crowded. The best way to see it (assuming you don't have a friend with an apartment on a high floor in one of the Grand'Place buildings) is from the town hall (3 euro entry fee). Long line, but the hall itself is interesting enough to pass the time.

You can, but those few tables by the window are taken quickly and the people sitting there don't appreciate having others trying to horn in and look out the window. Actually, several cafes on the GP have upper floors, not just La Chaloupe d'Or, but during the tapestry period, the tables are always occupied (sometimes reserved for favorite customers) and it's difficult to score one. Whereas the town hall is open to anyone with 3 euros and the patience to wait about 15-20 minutes to go through the building and then take their turn on the balcony.
