Grand Hotel Leveque--are the back rooms OK??

I recently booked a room at this hotel--no street side rooms were available. Will I be disappointed with this room??

Susan, our room at the Leveque wasn't a street side room. Some people have complained that the rooms on the street can be noisy early in the morning due to deliveries to the nearby shops. Our room overlooked a small inner courtyard and although there was no view, it was fine. If you're expecting a lot of ambience, you're in the wrong hotel. It is a great bargain though and the area can't be beat. Make sure you breakfast at the crepe stand across the street!

Whether you'll be disappointed depends on your expectations! Both times I've stayed at the Leveque, I happened to have streetside rooms, but it is true that those can be quite noisy, and I'd be content to have a more interior location. Considering the amenities - the location, etc. - it really is a good place to stay.

Did they check to see if you were sneaking food into your rooms?

Barb - don't know whether you directed that response to me, but I admit to having taken food into my room at the Leveque without difficulty (or maybe they just weren't observant enough). The last time we stayed there, the breakfast room was closed for some reason, so I went out and bought some orange juice and muffins at a nearby grocery store.

We spent Christmas in Paris and stayed at the Leveque for 10 nights. Per another inquiry, we too were discreet bring our snacks (pastry every afternoon to go with our tea and wine) and had no problem.
When they were empty, we took a peak at as many rooms as we could on our floor and found the 'back' rooms not too desirable. We are early risers and loved the clanking of the trucks as they unloaded the fish, fruits, veggies and flowers for the day's market. The ambience looking out our window was grand. You might want to enquire about another hotel if you can get a street-side room and don't worry about the street noise, it adds to it all.

We stayed at the Leveque for a week in 2000. For the first five nights, we had a room in the front. It was noisy, but we really enjoyed the street scene. For our last two nights, we had to move to a back room. (We knew when we booked.) That room was very dark, and cigarette smoke was literally pouring in. (Not sure where it was coming from.) Maybe we were just unlucky, but I wouldn't chance a back room again.
