Good Pocket Map Guide To Amsterdam
We are planning a trip to Amsterdam and loved using the Knopf map guides for London, Paris and Rome in the past. They are compact and very useful for the way we travel. The newest Knopf guide for Amsterdam seems to be of 2008 vintage and no longer in print (from my searches). A used one of the 2008 publishing runs $50+ USD...I can't justify spending that on something used that there is a good chance of loosing and even though a 2002 used version can be had for less I think it would be too much out of date.
Does anyone, who is familiar with the Knopf map guides, have any suggestions for something similar? You can't really tell what some of these guides are really like from seeing a couple of images online.

The ones the VVV or Amsterdam Tourist Office sells for a nominal price (maybe free) are perfectly adequate for the needs of most and yes could get wet but at a few euros easily replaceable. Check the iamAmsterdam Tourist Office at Schiphol Airport for such maps or as the picture shows other maps such as you ask about:

Airport also has mewsstands with maps.

The best pocket maps produced ever produced of course are the Streetwise maps. Unfortunately we all know they are our of production.
On e-bay some very greedy people are trying to snare the gullible by asking some unbelievable ridiculous prices.
Think I saw $60 for Prague and $160 for Paris.
Check out your local Barnes and Noble they still have some at the old $6.95 price.
I was to pick up extra copies of some I already have including, Seattle, Rome, Paris, Paris Art-wise, Munich and about 4 more. It might be worth checking different stores since found the cities available varied from store to store in my city.

Thanks everybody for all the suggestions. We will definitely get something laminated. I like the Redmaps and the DK Eyewitness maps. We had found Knopf guides listed in our local B&N but it ended up not actually being in their inventory.
I'll try to report back once we get a map in hand.
