Gites , chambre d'hôtes ?
Hello, I believed that chambres d´hôtes meant some kind of b&b, what are gites then?
Can any one explain this to me. Thank you.
In other countries of Europe do b&b have different names, like in Italy ?

Chambre d'hôtes is indeed the same as B&B.
A gîte is a (smallish) house, mostly on the grounds of a B&B. It has its own kitchen, living room, bedroom(s), bathroom and private terrace or garden.

A gite isn't a B&B at all. It's just a self-catering rental accommodation and can be almost anything, from a room or small apt. in a larger house to an entire villa. It's just a term they have given to the rental program by owners in France, outside the major big cities. There are lots of properties in the gite program that are not entire houses. They don't have anything to do with being on the grounds of a B&B.
