Getting from Rome to Montevarchi-

I am landing at 11 am on a Saturday morning and need to get from the Rome airport to Montevarchi. What is the best way to do this- train I gather - but I am not sure of the proximity of the airport to the station and once at the station what train to take - any leads would be appreciated...thank you! Or is there a bus/taxi service???

FI assume you mean Leonardo DaVinci/Fiumicino (FCO) airport in Rome. If yes, then you can take a train from the airport train station into Rome, and from the Rome station there catch a train to Montevarchi-Terrnuova. Which Rome station and which train will be best will vary based on your arrival time. You can check times and schedules here:

Just type in from 'Roma Aeroporto' and to 'Montevarchi," the date and 11 (for the hour). You'll see a couple of departures before noon (might be too early for you), and then a gap until 1:38 pm. When you get to the ticket window at the airport train station, pick the train you want and buy your ticket for the entire journey. You will change trains at either Roma Termini or Roma Tiburtina. The airport-Termini makes no stops, and the airport-Tiburtina makes several quick stops, but you'll see there isn't that much difference in the overall journey time. I would avoid the options with very short connecting times which seem to be the journeys via Tiburtina taking only 4:09 hours.

Thank you ellenem and Jean.
So just to clarify- I can take any train from the airport to either Roma Termini or Roma Tiburtina, and then I will make a transfer at either of those stations for the train to Montevarchi?
Reason being, instead of putting in 'Roma Aeroporto' to 'Montevarchi', I broke it up and put in 'Roma Aeroporto' to both 'Roma Termini' and 'Roma Tiburtina' and noticed that there were many more options from the airport then when I put in 'Roma Aeroporto' to 'Montevarchi.
I just want to make sure that I can take any of the trains from the airport to either station in Rome as opposed to just the ones that come up when I put in 'Roma Aeroporto' and to 'Montevarchi.
Can you confirm?

There may be more trains going directly to Roma Termini and Roma Tiburtina, but the system is offering you the ones that will connect most closely with the other train you must take from Rome to Montevarchi.

I would leave the airport as soon as possible. If you travel to the train station in Rome, at least your time-killing until the next train might include wandering in a neighborhood in Rome rather than an innocuous airport terminal.
