Avoid rush hours, use the buses so you see more of the city, walk. Replan your days somewhat.
You aren't tied to office hours like the poor souls struggling to get into work, not only dealing with the tube strike but the ongoing strike on Southern Rail (which also affects on occasion the Gatwick express).

My daughter left her house near Baron's Court tube stop at 0715, rode a series of Boris Bikes (changed every 30 min to keep the cost down)(may I still call them that?) got to 1 More London Place by 0900 after a quick shower at the gym. She said it was fun and exhilarating.
By 1900 the Tube was running again, which was good because she does not have proper reflective gear.
