Geneva & Yvoire for Wedding

Dear friend is getting married near Yvoire France in late Sept. I am suing FF miles to get to London & plan to use Easyjet to Geneva. As single woman, what's the best way to get to Yvoire from airport? Seems tricky or just rent a car - any problem between Switzerland & France in rental? I would prefer not to spend a fortune, but am beyond hostels. Any suggestions?

I confess that I don't remember to which side of Geneva the airport is located. I do know that we had to taxi from Yvoire to the train station in Geneva after missing the last boat (long story), and that seemed like an easy drive. I think I'd go with a car rental. Others here can advise re the France/Switzerland car rental specifics. I know one works out cheaper than the other. (ie French rental vs Swiss rental). J.

Hi! Couldn't be easier.

From GVA take the train to Geveve

walk down the pedestrianized rue du Mont Blanc (about 10 minutes) to the lake . . . then take the steamer

over to Yvoire. Check the CGN schedule to be sure you can make the connection. There are lovely 2-star hotels in Yvoire -- you'll love it!

Also, be sure to bring a hat: ladies attending weddings in France would usually wear a sharp-looking hat to match their outfit . . .

Getting yourself on a train from Geneva airport is incredibly simple, as the train station is attached to the airport (just did it last week). Geneve (downtown Geneva, will be the first stop and comes up pretty quickly).
