Gatwick express discounts

Hi:

Has anyone seen any Gatwick Express discounts lately?

The website has a four for two special but that won't work for us.

Thanks!

For 9.00 GBP you can take a Southern train from Gatwick to Victoria Station. Frequent service and only ten minutes slower than the Gatwick Express. Or take a Thameslink train to London Bridge (9.80 GBP) or to Kings Cross Thameslink (10.00 GBP). Again, there is frequent service.

How about luggage storage on the "regular" train service?

I'll be arriving and taking the train into the city around 9:00 AM on a weekeday morning. I assume that like the HEX, the GEX has separate luggage racks for storage...but how about on the regular trains?

I suppose there is nothing worse than getting onto an already crowded train to find there is no room for both you AND your luggage or that someone is taking up valuable seating space with a pile of luggage.

Since I only learned about the "regular" service AFTER I had taken the GEX, I don't know how crowded those trains are at the time of day you'll be traveling nor what the configuration is for luggage storage. However, I took trains to both Cambridge and Bath and they had overhead storage. If you're traveling light, lifting your luggage into place should work for you.

Thanks, Tim..it isn't the lifting that is the issue..it is the space to store/lift it that concerns me. My suspicion is that the trains on this route other than the GEX trains have the usual luggage racks overhead.

I could take a car transfer arranged through my hotel but I'm not interested in spending that kind of money; for 4 additional Pounds per trip for the GEX I'm tempted to do so just to ensure the luggage storage isn't a hassle.
