Gas stations closed on Sundays?

When driving in the area from Albi towards Pech Merle and then to Rocamadour, will there be gas available on Saturday and Sundays on the smaller roads? I have read that Sundays especially it is more difficult to find gas.

Yes, lots of gas stations are closed on Sundays. I always provided my renters with a list of the very few gas stations that were open on Sundays when I was renting my house - there were about 3 near my house. The ones that are open are mainly the ones that are linked to the big supermarkets, but if you only have an American credit card, it probably won't work there, and the stations are unlikely to be manned by people on Sundays. Plan ahead.

The majority of the petrol stations are indeed closed, but if you still have 1/4 of your tank, that is enough to find an open station. Just don't let it get any lower than that.

There will definitely be gas available on Saturday. Larger supermarkets are often open Sunday morning, and they will usually have a gas station with staff. Nothing on Sunday afternoon. But if you fill up Saturday you shouldn't have any problem.

You do know to go to gas stations in supermarkets rather than look for stand-alone stations, which are much more expensive, and becoming less and less common? Virtually everyone in France buys their gas at the supermarket.

As long as there is someone at the cash desk your card will work.

There is a gas station on the A20 between junctions 58 (Lalbenque) and 59 (Caussade) which should be open on Sundays.

It's less than 200 km... you can make it with
lots in reserve from Albi unless you're in a Bugatti Veyron...

If you must, just go to the motorway where the petrol stations are all open and manned 24 hours a day 7 days a week.
