From Heathrow to Gatwick or Stanstead
I will be flying into Heathrow but apparently I can't get from Heathrow to Venice. Does the tube go to Gatwick or is there another airline other than British Air that I can use from Heathrow to Venice? I would really rather not hassle with getting to a different airport. How far is it between the two? Thanks

I don't think any airline flies direct from Heathrow to Venice. You can get an indirect flight (eg Alitalia, HRW to Milan, Milan to Venice or KLM, HRW to Amsterdam, Amsterdam to Venice). Irritating isn't it? The tube doesn't go to Gatwick. There is a coach service linking the two airports called Speedlink. It takes from 1 hour to 1 and a half hours (depending on the traffic on the M25 motorway) and you can pick it up outside any of the terminals.

On the one hand, you said you would rather not hassle with another airport, but on the other hand, you DID mention stansted in your message header.

And there is very comfortable and hassle-free coach service from LHR to Stansted, where you could fly very cheaply to Venice (Treviso) on Ryanair.com

Food for thought.

Best wishes,

Rex
If flying from Stanstead, I would recommend using the www.easyjet.com rather than www.ryanair.com, as they fly to Marco Polo airport. IMHO arriving in Venice by Water Taxi or even Vaporetto is an experience that should not be missed.
