From Assisi to Gubbio

We'll be spending 2 nights in Assisi. Gubbio's only a 45 min drive by car from Assisi but kind of a hassle by bus or train. (We don't have a car this trip) Does anyone know if we could just hire a driver each way, or is that just not done? Any idea of cost? Thanx.

Take the 7:00 a.m. bus (Monday through Saturday) from Assisi; transfer in Perugia at 7:45 to bus for Gubbio arriving at 9:00. Connection should be guaranteed. www.apmperugia.it

GAC, thank you for the bus website. Problem is, it's all in Italian & I can't make out schedule. Can you help me figure out departure times *from Gubbio, returning to Assisi (+ where departs)?

Once again, thank you.

Lulu: return buses to Perugia Piazza dei Partigiani depart from Gubbio at:

12:45, 13:40, 16:00, 18:15 and 19:15, Monday through Saturday. The trip takes 70 minutes.

Onward bus connections to Assisi leave from Perugia Piazza dei Partigiani at 14:05 (arrive 15:00) and at 19:45 (arrive 20:29).

You can also proceed to Assisi by train, although this requires going to the Perugia train station, and then taking a local bus from the Assisi station up the hill to Assisi proper. Buses from Gubbio may not stop (nor go by) at the Perugia train station.

I would send an e-mail to the bus company to verify the schedules.

When I took the bus from Perugia to Gubbio, it left Perugia on the other side of town from the train station--never stopped there. The bus station is good distance up the hillside from the train station. Take the bus for both legs of the trip.
