Friend's first trip to Paris - which hotel?

I have not been to Paris in a few years and have not been reading the Paris postings on the net. Friends are planning their first trip to Paris next June and are not internet users when it comes to planning. I'd like to help them out with hotel ideas. I have stayed at Grandes Ecoles, Muguet, and Place des Vosges in the past but wondered if there are any new recommendations for good hotels at reasonable prices for first timers. I don't know what the prices are like these days but we paid a bit less than $100 US dollars a few years ago for the above hotels. As first timers, location is important....Any ideas would be welcomed!

Alas, the euro has risen against the dollar.

We always stay at the Hotel Bonaparte, 61 Rue Bonaparte in the 6th. About 124E dbl w/bkfst

Bonjour

We stayed in the 7th District near the Eiffel Tower. Hotel was the Royal Phare - http://www.hotel-royalphare-paris.com. There is also the Prince Hotel - http://www.hotel-paris-prince.com - around the corner. Both are very handy to sites, metro, supermarket etc.

Au revoir

Dacia Luxembourg on St Mich in the Latin Quarter near the Sorbonne was great for our 1st trip.

I have recommended this to several friends and they have all enjoyed their stay: Hotel Dieu Hospitel. Yes it is a working hospital, but the location is second to none (at the enterance to Notre Dame) and its hospital clean. There are less than 20 rooms on the top floor and no website. Call 33.01.44.32.01.00 This should be in your price range. 6/04 I paid 99.50 euro a night.

Peace,

or

At Hotel Vendome Saint Germain in the 5th, also very good location and neighborhood, in the Latin Quarter: http://www.paris-hotelvendome.com

Hope your friends will have a good time in Paris...
