FRENCH MACARONS - WHO HAS THE BEST ONES?
I just returned from a trip that included a visit to Reims. I had the best macarons there but I can't remember the name of the store. The next day we tried another shop or 3 but they weren't as good as the 1st one. Who do you think had the best macrons in Reims? My friend is on her way there soon & I wanted to tell her which shop to try ( & have her bring me some ).

Un Dimanche a Paris is my new fav, and to me, Laduree does not come close to theirs. They have a ginger citrus one that is my favorite but the strawberry was a close second! This is in Paris.
I was too busy in Reims with champagne and did not get any macarons while there.
If you know kinda where you were, you may be able to use Google street view to find your shop.

The only macarons I've tried in Reims were at Dallet but I didn't think they were that great.
In Paris, I like Hugo et Victor's macarons. I also like Laduree's fleur d'oranger (but most of their other flavors I find too sweet).

I discoverd these simple macarons in Saint Jean de Luz and loved them:

I bought the round tins to bring home!I enjoy the history linked with them being made for the wedding of Louis XIV in the little church there.
They also have a shop in Biarritz.

Thanks to everyone for all the suggestions. I mistakenly thought it was a specialty of Reims. We wandered into the shop when we were lost so I have no idea of where it was. And we didn't eat any until a few hours later after we had lunch.
I know it wasn't Waida. I don't think it was any of the shops suggested & definitely not Dallet's. The shop was primarily a bakery and not a chocolate shop. I am not planing on being in Reims again but maybe I can sample the macrons in Paris on my next visit.

It sounds like you went to Paul. Great chocolate macarons.
