A few more (with translations!):

ca mettra du beurre dans les epinards (lit. that will put butter on the spinach = that will bring in some extra money)

c'est chou vert ou vert chou / c'est jus vert ou verjus (lit. it's cabbage green or green cabbage/ it's green juice or verjus = it's six of one and half a dozen of the other)

raconter des salades (lit. to tell salads = to tell tall stories)

Avoir de l'oseille (sorrel) or du blé (wheat) or des radis (radish) : to have money

avoir le vin mauvais : to be quarrelsome in one's cup - the opposite is avoir le vin gai : to be merry

sucrer les fraises (strawberries) : to tremble, to be senile

une grosse légume (big vegetable) : a top brass

en faire tout un fromage: to make a big fuss out of nothing

traîner une casserole (to drag a pan) : to be involved in a compromising business

Il y avait à boire et à manger = there was an overload of details, not necessarily correct.

faire tant de bruit pour une omelette (make so much noise for an omelet): much ado about nothing
avoir de la friture dans le téléphone (to hear frying in the phone): static on the line
aller se faire cuire un oeuf (to go and have an egg boiled): to leave someone in peace

there is also:

plein comme un oeuf (as full as an egg): filled to capacity
écraser le champignon (squeeze the mushroom): drive at full speed
avoir du pain sur la plache (having bread on the board): having lots of work to do
tirer une carotte à quelqu'un (draw a carrot from someone): take something away by cheating.

etc. etc.

Être entre deux vins (to between two wines): to be slightly drunk.
