Frankfurt: can you recommend a nearby town with a good B&B?

After a long flight, we don't want to drive far once we leave the Frankfurt airport. So can you recommend a good nearby B&B in a quiet town? We stayed last in Langen, nearby but utterly featureless.

I used to live in Aschaffenburg, about half an hour from the airport. I don't know about B&Bs there but there is a nice hotel near the station, the Aschaffenburger Hof. Aschaffenburg is in Bavaria, a very nice city and home or former home to several US Army bases.

Lots of options. It would help if we knew
Which direction are you traveling?
How long are you willing to drive 1/2 hour, 1 hour, 2 hours?

Why not stay in Frankfurt? Or Mainz? They are close. For even nicer scenery, try Bad Homburg, Königstein, Kronberg, Bad Soden as they are up in the Taunus Mountains. Frankfurt certainly is not featureless and you can relax, sightsee and get over your jet-lag.

How about Bad Homburg? It's very near and has some moderate-priced hotels, Haus Daheim for one. Or Bad Nauheim.

We also liked Aschaffenburg. We stayed at the Hotel Cafe Fischer. Photos of the hotel and the town during Advent season:

Thanks for all your help! We are headed south toward Heidelberg and then southeast toward Bad Wimpfen, where our ancestors were born. They came to America in 1747, so I doubt there are any relatives in that area. And the name's spelling was changed over the intervening 258 years, too. It looks as if Aschaffenburg would be just fine. Great photos, Gary Mc.
