Fodors Editors!

helpmewithtravel and hsv registered this morning apparently w/ the sole purpose of topping every thread w/ vague, useless or stupid titles . . . . .

helpmewithtravel did his handy work early this a.m. and hsv is following up now. probably the same person . . . . . .

Sorry janis,

I have been registered here for more than a year and usually try my best to come up with helpful sugestions wherever I can (which I hope you can proof by clicking on my screen name).

I just happened to be a bit amused by helpmetravel's efforts - call me stupid. To my defence: I am a bit stressed out currently.

I also happen to think that it's everybody's right to use a header of their own choice. If it's trivial everyone else here is certainly entitled not to open it or not to contribute to it, if the respective Fodorite feels that his/her time would be wasted.
If you wish I am a believer in a functioning market: The posters using those indifferent titles are likely to discover that a better headline will get them better responses.
On the other hand, the one or other inspecific header is likely to arouse some interest in others who might not have thought of contributing some information they have and which they possibly were not even aware of.

So let's all get along! I promise I won't top any more of those titles anymore!

Regards
hsv

Sorry hsv - apparently my left frame froze when I clicked on your name. it only showed the several threads you topped this morning. Now I see you've been here a while.

But helpmewithtravel topped more than 50 useless threads and your "amusement" does not help.

helpmewithtravel made 50 wothwhile threads sink out of sight.

ira: I know how to contact fodors - but have sometimes found them less than responsive -- but they do seem to be doing a better job lately . . . . . .

hvs,
Take a look at this thread http://www.fodors.com/forums/threads...p;tid=34598900
and you'll see why people didn't want any thread that helpmewithtravel topped early this morning to end up being re-topped.
There's no doubt that helpme was trying to make a point, but he/she took it to extremes.

O.k. folks,

point taken!

I do apologize once more, but even in my state of mind as of today I noticed that that other poster overdid it - and therefore I stopped after about five threads.

I still stand by my opinion that everybody's entitled to use a header that they consider appropriate, and I thus thought a bit of tongue- in- cheek action here might convey that point (just as other posters recently started to comment provocatively on events going on in Vatican city).

What I certainly did not intend was to make any threads go down that definitely deserved attention.

So I am sorry if I inconvenienced anybody around and I will return to trying to be of help - as I hope I have been before.

And finally: It should of course have read "which I hope you can verify " - sorry for my English, have been proof- reading contracts all day.

Have a nice weekend everybody!
hsv

I thought it might not be a bad idea to delete helpmewithtravel along with all the inanely titled threads s/he topped. Hsv, however, is usually a "normal" poster, I think from Germany, and generally quite serious.

>>>>I am a believer in a functioning market>>>>>

hsv...a regular or not, systematically manipulating the order of posts flies in the face of your "functioning market".

hmmm, i'm going to bangkok next month maybe i'll just top every post i can find about bangkok then i'll be sure to get some good advice. you should know better and your account should be terminated if it's against the rules to do this. if it's not it should be. to prevent this nonsense all artificial means to top posts should be banned...including those who do it as a favour to others(ttt).

this will be the new tactic of trolls if not stopped. we log on and we'll get 50 posts about shorts in paris or money belts. systematic topping of posts can kill this site.

In hsv's defense, he/she provided me with very useful information when I was planning my recent Germany trip. I am very grateful to this poster

Dear hsv,

Say ten Hail Marys and ten Our Fathers,
contribute $5 to the poor box, go do a good deed, write a trip report.

You will be forgiven.

Hey I'm going to Paris in June and I have a question:

Do Frenchmen wear their moneybelt inside or outside their shorts? And will I be expected to do the same?
