Flying US Airways Internationally?

We usually fly United/Lufthansa or NW/KLM when we fly internationally. We are planning a trip to Israel for March and the cheapest fares and best connections are with US Airways. Just wondering if anyone has experience flying with them internationally and whether they are pretty comparable or significantly worse than the other two. We carry everything on so lost luggage hopefully won't be an issue.

thanks!

I have flown US Airways to Europe a couple of times in the past year and in my experience, they are about the same except on the in flight entertainment. I imagine most travelers would prefer the individual seat back screens, and some of their planes may have them, but for me at least, low fares trump most amenities. If the cost and schedule are about the same, I use the information shown on Seat Guru to help me decide between one airline and another.

I have only flown USAirways internationally in Envoy (Business); their 767's now have new almost lie-flat seats in Envoy. I've had decent service from them. Certainly not as nice as First on other airlines such as United and Lufthansa but....Sorry, cannot help you with economy but then again you didn't SAY which class you want to travel in.

I've flown them to Europe and Aruba coach a number of times. No better or worse than others I've flown. 1st class to PR once. That was very nice.

Thanks for the info. We will be flying in economy. Actually, the individual seat back screens are an issue for us as we are traveling with our teens and those are a REAL benefit to us, but then we can bring our own laptop for them to watch movies.

I agree - I last flew them a couple of years ago, so it's possible they've updated, but at that point we didn't have individual screens on either set of flights. Those are really nice to have, but I'm like cynthia_booker - I'd rather pay substantially less and miss out on that perk. seatguru.com, as she mentioned, should have updated information on the particular type of plane you would be using.

Other than the entertainment aspect, they've been no better or worse than others, really. I've flown Continental and Delta more recently and would probably pick Delta with all other things being equal (just based on my experience), but wouldn't hesitate to book USAir if the prices and schedules were the best deal.

On international flights on US Air I have always had individual seat back screens. Check on seatguru.com and you will find the info for your plane.

We flew from Chicago to Dublin on them in January. The plane was in poor condition, with toilets not working properly. The crew was very friendly.

As for our luggage, we always carry on, but since we weren't in the lst boarding groups, the overhead compartments were filled early so they took our luggage as we boarded and checked it. We were very unhappy about this.

For the last several years (until June 3, when Delta opened up non-stop to CDG), it's been the only show in town here in Pgh., and I have flown several times to Europe on USAirways. IMO, it's no better or worse than any other airline on any given day. The Airbus, which they use for many overseas flights, has individual seat back screens.

We flew from Rome to Philadelphia last fall on US Airways. The leg room was so tight we had to take out the magazines and put them in the storage area to gain that extra 1/2inch. That was the tightest leg room ever - everyone was complaining.
