Flying into Milan, needs help in itineray.

We are flying into Milan, and also wanted
to go to the Lakes, Maggiori and Como, my
question is: First arriving into Malpensa
airport, its better to go the the Lakes, and
after the lakes visit Milan?? I think I read, that Malpensa was closer to the Lakes
than to Milan?? Please help me decide, I am
waiting to reserve my hotels.
Thank you, I know that as always, you
help and suggestions are wonderful!!!

We are flying into Venice and leaving from Milan in May. We had similar questions. After reading extensively on this board, we decided to stay in Stresa on Lake Maggiore for several nights before flying home and to visit Milan on a daytrip.

Because of some hotel issues with our dates for Bellagio, we're daytripping to Milan by train from Bergamo. It would be easy to do so from Stresa from what I've read.

We also decided to go to Stresa first
and stay at Lake Maggiori, and then
spent two night in Milan.
Thanks your your comments.

Hello MNPAGES, the nice thing about going directly to Sresa is that you can relax and unwind after your long flight. A nice area to recoup in as well as being quite lovely.

We stayed at Hotel Star a number of years back and liked it. I see it's still positively reviewed in the current guide books and websites.

How much are you willing to spend? And where do you want to stay-the centro storico, or near the train station?
