Florence Museum Help

We have a reservation at the Uffizi for 9:00 on a Sunday morning. I would like to make a reservation for the Accedemia for the afternoon. Any suggestions as to the time for the afternoon museum? We are four adults.

How fast do you walk?

We are in pretty good shape and we can walk quickly if necessary. We would also like a nice lunch in between the two museums.

If the cafe in the Uffizi is open, I'd recommend having an early light lunch at the museum. Then you might want some time to poke around a bit while you walk to the Accademia and get some gelato or something.

How long do you normally spend in art museums? Personally I wouldn't make it any earlier than 2pm. Keep in mind it's not that easy to fast-walk in Florence- the sidewalks are very narrow and packed.

The Uffizi is a wonderful but tiring museum. I suggest about two hours there then a leisurely lunch somewhere between the Uffizi and the Accademia. It will take about 20-25 minutes to walk from one museum to the other. I would do a little wandering in Florence and get to the Accademia between 3 and 4. It is usually less crowded around 4 and after.

If you will be in Florence for a few days, there are many other wonderful museums. We really enjoy the Bargello for sculpture, the Museo del Opera del Duomo for works of art from the Duomo, the San Marco for the exquisite Fra Angelico frescos and the Palazzo Medici Ricardi with its lovely frescoed chapel. There are too many others to mention.
