Florence - Booking for the Uffizi
Hi
I am looking to pre-book tickets for the Uffizi gallery through the official website. We would like to visit in the mornings but the earliest available places are from 12:00 noon.
How can we book for the morning? Will appreciate any advice.
Kind Regards

There was a report of a poster being charged quite a bit last year. Several people on Fodor's advised her to just have her hotel book. She was not only charged a higher rate, but when she wanted to change date/time of her reservation, they wanted a big fee for that. She ended up paying about three times the price had she bought them from the Uffizi. I think anyone advising this should warn the person to ask their hotel if they charge for the service, how much the ticket will be, whether they can change their reservation or not and what, if any, change fees.

Good advice, ky. I would re-think a hotel that wants to nickel-and-dime its customers like that. Who knows what else they will try to tack onto the bill-- like leaving the electricity on, wanting extra towels, etc.
We liked the Relais Cavalcanti in Florence. Very near the Uffizi. Very nice little family-owned hotel.

She didn't have a clue her hotel was going to do that as everyone on Fodor's was telling her to just have the hotel book the tickets and didn't mention anything about possible extra charges. Even if you book them yourself online through the museum website, you can't change them or get a refund.

Our hotel in Florence booked the tickets for us when we booked the hotel. They did not charge us for the tickets at all. They suggested later in the afternoon after most of the tours have been through 3:00 pm. The hotel gave us two reservation numbers for those times, one for each museum acedamia and uffuzzi. On the day of your reservation about 15 minutes or so before the allotted time, go to the ticket window and give them the reservation number. You will pay a 4 euro fee per ticket plus price of admission to use the reservation system. Pick up your ticket and then go to the line to get in that is marked for people holding reservations. Go right in.
